The 2016 Cittaslow Goolwa Smoke Off

The Cittaslow Goolwa Smoke Off Festival brings together Goolwa’s traditional Smoke Off, Fleurieu food vendors, Shaw Family Vintners and some of the finest Langhorne Creek wineries. The festival is to be held on Sunday November 6^th in the Garden of Honour, Goolwa RSL, and will also involve popular local band The Mactones. Best of all – it’s free!

The fun starts at 11 am when Smoke Off teams light their BBQs and start smoking their protein of choice - everything from ham to fish, turkey, beef or lamb, even vegetables get a run. This event caters to all tastes and everyone can be involved in the fun. The teams compete for prizes and trophies for the best smoked food, as judged by a panel of local personalities. As well, all sites are eligible for the award for most creatively decorated team site.

While the slow food of the Smoke Off is cooking away, spectators can try the wares of wineries like Shaw Family Vintners, Bleasdale, Karrawatta, Kimbolton, and others. Food? Plenty from Cafelicious, Alexandrina Cheese, Matchett Productions and more including, of course, the popular BBQ PipiCo bike from Bombora @ Goolwa Beach!

Of course, the RSL bar will be open and the Currency Creek CFS will provide the ever-popular sausage sizzle. To top it all off the traditional big Smoke Off raffle will be drawn on the day. Tickets are still available from local Goolwa cafes and businesses.

Proceeds from the day will be donated to the Goolwa RSL, the Currency Creek CFS as well as Cittaslow Goolwa.

This great event adds to regular Goolwa Sunday events like the Wharf market, the Steam Ranger, the Oscar W, the art exhibitions at Signal Point and other galleries. All of these events make for a really great day!
