NCCN: Suspended and Lost Cittaslow membership – Shinan and Jangheung, Corea

South Korean National Network

Unfortunately, among the two other member town, Shinan was suspended in membership from 2013 until April 30, 2014because Shinan failed to meet fully requirements in the questions of evaluation, reported a poor performance for past five years, and could not control the illegal use of logo over the region.

Jangheung did lose the Cittaslow membership because the town also failed to satisfy the requirements, did not do their best in the promotion of the Cittaslow movement in their city projects or initiatives at all, and even the poor reputation among visitors on Cittaslow membership might seriously cause negative impact on international brand. Therefore, there remain ten member towns in the National Cittaslow Corea Network as of July 15, 2013.

In May 9, 2013 Damyang and Wando, two of four first Asian member towns were recertified as member town of the Cittaslow network from the Cittaslow International after a review of the questions of evaluation and the five-year performance reportssubmitted for the recertification.
