Activities Organized for the Chinese Lunar Calendar New Year

Chinese Lunar Calendar New Year is around the corner, and this year the New Year Day falls on Jan.28th. In China, there is a tradition that people will do Spring Festival shopping half a month before the new year day or more earlier. Yaxi organized various activities in order to celebrate the new year and made dense atmosphere of new year on the last day of 2016. More than 120 dinner tables lined the street, and many people from Nanjing came here to enjoy the specialties, such as red-cooked pork, chicken soup, sticky rice cake and so forth. Besides, folk dances, opera especially the spring couplets kicked off the beginning of the preparation for the new year. Tourists not only enjoyed the delicious local food and folk shows, but also did new year’s shopping. They all said activities were wonderful and meaningful.
