10th Cittaslow International General Assembly

9-12 May 2017, Goolwa, Alexandrina, Australia

PROPOSED PROGRAM 

Most activities are within walking distance of the main street. Assistance with transport will be provided if needed. Please note that it will be late Autumn. Days are short (sunrise approx. 7am and sunset at approx. 5.30pm). Make sure you have suitable clothing for cool days. The average maximum temperature in Goolwa is 18 degrees C with the average minimum of 9 degrees C.  We may have some showers of rain so be prepared with appropriate clothing, especially as we will be outside for the tours.

TUESDAY 9 MAY 2017 (unofficial day)

We can arrange a set time for pick up at the Adelaide Airport or in central Adelaide, if required.

• 9.00am – 6.00pm Registration (Cittaslow Office)
• 2.00pm – 6.00pm Move into Accommodation Various locations
• 6.00pm – 9.00pm Aussie Barbecue with bush dancing (Booth’s shed)
• 9.00pm Return to accommodation

WEDNESDAY 10 MAY 2017

Early morning Selection of walks and activities

• 8.00am – 10.00am Late Registrations (Cittaslow Office)
• 10.00am Official Opening with indigenous (Centenary Hall)
  Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony
• 11.00am New Cittaslow Hymn (Centenary Hall)
  Welcome to new Cittaslow Towns
• 12.15pm Travel on Cockle Train Lunch also served
  Port Elliot – shopping and exploring
  Victor Harbor 
• 4.15pm Arrive back at Goolwa Railway Station
  Time to rest or explore the town
• 7.00pm – 10.00pm Mayoral Reception (Signal Point)

THURSDAY 11 MAY 2017

• 10.30 am Expo – Local producers, artisans Signal Point
• 12 noon Lunch
• 1.00pm Choice of Cittaslow Themed Tours History/Arts/Tourism
  Paddle Steamer Oscar W, Walks, Ngarrindjeri basket weaving Nature/Environment
  Mundoo Island  Nature Tourism
  Coorong Cruise
• 5.30pm Return to accommodation, rest,
  Explore the town
• 7.00pm – 10.00pm Dinner – Choice of Restaurants, Various locations
  or dine with your host if Homestay,
  or dinner at pub (Note: Cost of dinner is not included in your Registration fee)

FRIDAY 12 MAY 2017

SATURDAY 13 MAY 2017

We will assist delegates to return to Adelaide.

Note: Specific detail is subject to change, but the general program structure will remain the same.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

If you are a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand, you will need a visa and a valid passport or other travel documents acceptable to the Australian Government to enter Australia.

There are different types of Visas, however most delegates should apply for the free E-Visitor Visa (Subclass 651).  THESE MUST BE APPLIED FOR BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME.
